Most of the time I'm doing things related to robotics or, more generally, software. My current position as visiting scholar at the Stanford Robotics and AI Lab allows me to do just that, of course. I'm also consulting part-time for Willow Garage, a privately-funded research lab focused on developing the next generation of robotic devices. I'm a member of some organizations and committees that are furthering robotics and open source software.

Current Project: Whole-Body Task-Oriented Motion Planning for Human-Centered Robotics

My current position as visiting scholar at the Stanford Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Lab involves working on human-centered robotics. There is preliminary code on http://premise.sourceforge.net/.

Funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation under the Fellowship for Advanced researchers, this project aims to develop a system that plans, executes and supervises motions for mobile manipulators and humanoid robots that perform contact-based interaction with untrained humans. The system will simultaneously consider the motions of all limbs, allow for the inclusion of compliant behavior through impedance control, and adapt to changes in the environment while a plan is being executed.

Please consult the project summary for more information.

Other Ongoing Things

Time permitting, I'm always updating and supporting two results of my thesis:
